Grant to Save the Children Federation (SCF) to address water supply needs in Burkina Faso"s drought-stricken Seno and Ouadalan Provinces by establishing a well repair brigade and training villagers in well pump repair.

Abstract
(1) SCF will establish a well repair team to repair and upgrade at least 15 wells in Seno Province in cooperation with an existing well repair team supported by the Union of Brotherly Believers (UFC). Grant funds will be used for capital equipment, materials, and personnel costs. Recipient villagers will contribute labor and local materials. (2) In coordination with UFC, the Ouadalan Village Group Union and other nongovernmental organizations, SCF will train 160 villagers from Seno and Ouadalan Provinces to repair well pumps. SCF and UFC will establish a system to ensure that spare parts for the wells are available to participating villagers and will conduct follow-up visits to each of the 160 trainees. The project will benefit an estimated 100,000 persons.
