Abstract
72011518F00005 with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The program aims to support the development of Uzbekistan's legal framework, enhance the legal profession, and improve the legal operating environment for non-governmental and civil society organizations working in the country. The program's objectives include improving the capacity and efficiency of institutions to protect human rights, strengthening the capacity of business and religious leaders to protect victims and prevent gender-based violence, and increasing legal awareness and services to protect human rights. During the reporting period from October 1 to December 31, 2023, the LRP achieved several key milestones. The Uzbek government issued several important regulations, including a resolution on supporting women in obtaining professions in colleges and social partnership and cooperation in socially useful programs. The government also approved a regulation on the provision of state social assistance and services, including those for women who have suffered from domestic violence. The LRP promoted stakeholder buy-in and created reliable and sustainable systems for implementation, which is a key element of the program's approach to sustainability. The program also supported the development of the legal profession through training and capacity-building activities. The LRP worked with various stakeholders, including government officials, civil society organizations, and business leaders, to promote the rule of law and protect human rights. The program's activities focused on several key areas, including gender, climate change, and climate change adaptation, and the development of the legal enabling environment for civil society and NGOs. The LRP also supported the implementation of locally granted projects and activities related to supporting commercial law.
