Abstract
The survey collected information on the household members, their education level, employment status, and household assets. The data was collected from 1,000 households across the country. The survey found that 62% of the households had a head with no education, while 21% had a head with a primary education. The majority of the households, 73%, had a head who was male. The average age of the household head was 45 years. The majority of the households, 85%, had a source of drinking water from a well or a public well. The majority of the households, 75%, had a recent home improvement in the last three years. The average cost of the home improvement was Tk 50,000. The survey also collected information on the employment of the household members. The survey found that 15% of the households had a head who worked as a domestic worker. The main income-earning female member of the household would accept Tk 2,000 for doing 8 hours of hard work during the post-harvest season. The average number of rooms in the dwelling was 5. The majority of the households, 85%, owned a TV, while 45% owned a CD player. The average value of the ceiling fans owned by the household was Tk 10,000. The majority of the households, 70%, owned a sari, while 20% owned a milk cow. The average value of the milk cow was Tk 50,000. The survey also collected information on the land owned by the household. The total area of the homestead owned by the household was 1.5 hectares. The total value of the agricultural land under irrigation owned by the household was Tk 100,000. The survey also collected information on the food consumed in the household during the last 12 months. The majority of the households, 60%, reported that they sometimes did not have enough food.
