Abstract
The program aims to improve TB detection, care, and treatment services in the country. TB Platforms' activities in FY2018 focused on advancing the adoption and improvement of healthy behaviors among individuals and communities to prevent, detect, and treat TB. The program achieved several key accomplishments, including the mobilization of key and non-key personnel, establishment of office space and equipment, and collaboration with USAID, DOH, NTP, and other stakeholders. The TB Platforms Launch Event was held, and expansion of TB Platforms activities in Marawi was initiated. The program's objective 1 aimed to advance the adoption and improvement of healthy behaviors among individuals and communities to prevent, detect, and treat TB. Sub-objective 1.1 focused on improving TB healthcare-seeking, detection, and treatment enrollment and adherence, while sub-objective 1.2 aimed to increase the detection of new TB and DR-TB cases through community approaches. The program achieved a 27% increase in TB healthcare-seeking among program participants compared to the control group. Objective 2 aimed to bolster high-quality patient-centered TB and DR-TB treatment for adults, children, and vulnerable populations. Sub-objective 2.1 focused on healthcare providers delivering quality, patient-centered TB and DR-TB diagnostic and treatment services, while sub-objective 2.2 aimed to scale up Service Delivery Networks to provide comprehensive TB detection, prevention, care, and treatment services. The program established 15 new TB diagnostic and treatment facilities, increasing access to TB services for targeted populations. Objective 3 aimed to expand local health system capacity to deliver TB and DR-TB services to targeted populations. Sub-objective 3.1 focused on decentralized governance and finance mechanisms facilitating quality TB prevention, care, and treatment, while sub-objective 3.3 aimed to improve access to TB laboratory systems providing rapid test results for TB (DS and DR). The program trained over 2,500 healthcare providers on TB diagnosis and treatment, and established a data management system to support program execution decisions. TB Platforms' activities in Marawi focused on administrative and management mobilization to support TB Platforms implementation, partner coordination for Marawi response, and expansion of TB Platforms activities in the city. The program achieved significant progress in TB control in Marawi, including the establishment of a TB diagnostic and treatment facility and the training of healthcare providers on TB diagnosis and treatment. The program also made significant progress in cross-cutting elements, including gender integration and considerations, sustainability and self-reliance, and environmental compliance and climate risk mitigation. TB Platforms collaborated with various stakeholders, including USAID, DOH, NTP, and local organizations, to achieve program objectives. The program's success stories include the rebuilding of Marawi City's health system with USAID support and the restoration of hope for Internally Displaced People through TB screening.
