The USAID Tropical Storm IDA Reconstruction Project in El Salvador aims to strengthen scholastic programs and resilience in the storm-affected municipality of Quezaltepeque.

Abstract
The project has two main outcomes: students in Quezaltepeque have a sustainable, functional, accessible, and safe school to pursue their education, and community members can apply disaster risk reduction and migration concepts in Quezaltepeque. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) continues with the construction stage, which includes external works, construction of concrete walls for classrooms, installation of metal roof structure, roof installation, and electrical installations. IOM held follow-up meetings with the Ministry of Education's technical team to present the ongoing progress of the project and solve technical details. Additionally, IOM conducted workshops related to migration issues and community organization for community members and students, as well as workshops in drawing and painting for students. The project has made significant progress in the construction of the I.N. Jose Maria Peralta Lagos School. The construction of the perimeter wall is 90% complete, the enhancement of the multifunctional court is 90% complete, and the enhancement of the kitchen and bakery is 65% complete. The construction of the classrooms, computer room, and laboratory is 60% complete, and the construction of the electric room and storage is 65% complete. The project has also made progress in engaging community members in the development, care, and maintenance of the school. IOM conducted workshops on disaster risk reduction and migration concepts for parents, students, local government, and community members. The site visit of the technical team of the Ministry of Education was completed on November 25, 2019. The project will continue with the planned activities in the annual work plan, including training sessions in disaster risk reduction and migration concepts, and workshops in theater for students. The project will also continue with the construction of the covered orchard, which is 25% complete. The project has submitted several reports, including the Quarterly Performance and Financial Report, the Quarterly Financial Report, and the Construction Progress Report. The project has also submitted the EMMP Construction Stage report and the GOES Monthly Reports. The project has completed 100% of the construction works, and the construction of the perimeter wall, enhancement of the multifunctional court, and site visit of the technical team of the Ministry of Education are in progress. The project has engaged several stakeholders, including the Ministry of Education, the local government, school administration, parents, and students.
