Abstract
The program aims to provide basic health services to priority populations, including Venezuelan nationals, Colombian returnees, and host communities, through 23 hospitals in 13 departments in Colombia. Health care services are provided following sanitary and biosafety measures implemented by the National Government in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. The program has assisted 8,111 people through the provision of 19,195 health services, with an average of 2.2 services per person. The majority of the people assisted, 96%, were migrants from Venezuela, while 81% of the beneficiaries were women and 19% were men. The program has also provided psychosocial support and training to entrepreneurs, including entrepreneurship teams, to strengthen their competitiveness. In Arauca, the entrepreneurship team Escuela Musical Explosión Llanera was trained on occupational health and safety issues, with the support of Fundeorino, an implementing partner of the program. The training aimed to prevent, mitigate, and control the degree of contagion due to the nature of the activity. The program has also implemented productive projects that aim to strengthen the Wayuu community in the Guajira department. Elvis Sánchez and Andrea Carolina González, two Venezuelan nationals, were able to get a job with social security guarantees through the program. They are a reflection of the repeated reality of many Venezuelan nationals who come to Colombia in search of a better quality of life. The program has also implemented a project to promote the health, well-being, and quality of life of populations in the Arauca department, including the Eñepa indigenous population. The program has been adapting its actions and strategic activities to promote the health of the populations in the midst of the pandemic. The program has also implemented a project to strengthen the comprehensive health care of Venezuelan nationals, Colombian returnees, and host communities, including the Eñepa indigenous population.
