Abstract
The project, funded by USAID, targeted 14 districts in the Nampula Province and focused on health, water and sanitation, and the development of Young Farmers' Clubs. The project's intervention packages were designed based on the health status and agricultural potential of the area, complementing previous interventions by the American Government. The project's objectives were to assess the changes in key indicators within the target population between the baseline (October 2010) and endline (July 2014) surveys. The surveys aimed to evaluate the impact of the project on health outcomes, including contraception, child health, and hygiene practices. The methodology involved a probabilistic sampling of 2,630 households, ensuring representation across rural and urban areas, as well as different intervention packages. The endline survey results showed significant improvements in health outcomes, including a 27% increase in household income among program participants compared to the control group. The project's intervention packages, including health, water and sanitation, and agricultural development, contributed to improved health outcomes and increased household income. The project's implementation involved the collection of data using Android phones with the CommCare ODK application, which was synchronized online with the CommCare server. The data was then exported to Excel and analyzed using Stata V 11.0. The analysis revealed significant differences between the baseline and endline values of key indicators, indicating the project's positive impact on health outcomes and household income. The survey results also showed improvements in household characteristics, including increased access to electricity, radio, television, and cellular phones. The project's intervention packages, including health, water and sanitation, and agricultural development, contributed to improved household characteristics and increased household income. The project's success was attributed to the effective implementation of the intervention packages, which addressed the specific needs of the target population.
