Abstract
The program was awarded four objectives: local actors building cross-line interdependence and intra-community cohesion, civil society actors advocating for peace and justice, key partners providing trauma awareness services, and media providing accurate information to mitigate the impact of rumor and misinformation. Shejeh Salam's geographic approach targets 13 priority counties in South Sudan, with a focus on the Western Bahr El Ghazal (WBEG) Cluster, which includes the counties of Wau and Jur River. The cluster is characterized by deep intercommunal mistrust between the Fertit and Dinka, exacerbated by housing, land, and property rights issues stemming from the civil war and cattle-related conflict with neighboring counties. The program will maintain its presence in Western Bahr El Ghazal, Jonglei, and Unity States, and establish a new office in Eastern Equatoria. The Juba-based roving team will provide support for Upper Nile activities and targeted programming outside of the 13 counties. Shejeh Salam's approach to the objectives is outlined in its Results Framework, which includes intermediate results such as local actors building cross-line interdependence and intra-community cohesion, and civil society actors advocating for peace and justice. Shejeh Salam's programming strategy emphasizes competitive concept identification, construction, dedicated funding sources, and cross-cutting themes such as capacity building and sustainability, gender and social inclusion, and conflict sensitivity. The program will also focus on working with government, collaboration and coordination, and learning. The program's geographic focus areas include the Western Bahr El Ghazal Cluster, the Southern Unity Cluster, the Jonglei Cluster, the Eastern Equatoria Cluster, and the Upper Nile Cluster. Shejeh Salam will also work outside of the priority counties, addressing critical needs in neighboring counties that affect the priority counties. Shejeh Salam's proposed offices and staffing in Year Two include a Wau office, a Southern Unity office, a Jonglei office, an Eastern Equatoria office, a roving/Upper Nile office, and a national presence. The program's approach to geographic targeting and cross-cutting approaches will be critical in achieving its objectives and promoting peace and civic engagement in South Sudan. The program's Results Framework outlines the intermediate results and outcomes that Shejeh Salam aims to achieve in Year Two. The framework includes intermediate results such as local actors building cross-line interdependence and intra-community cohesion, and civil society actors advocating for peace and justice. The program's approach to achieving these outcomes will be critical in promoting peace and civic engagement in South Sudan.
