The document is a research article titled Inoculation Reduces Misinformation: Experimental Evidence from Multidimensional Interventions in Brazil.
2023

Abstract
The study investigates the effectiveness of preemptive interventions in reducing misinformation in Brazil. The authors conducted two field experiments, one during the 2020 mayoral elections in São Paulo and another in early 2022, to test the impact of a multidimensional intervention on rumor acceptance. The intervention consisted of a voucher for a free newspaper subscription and an email warning about the spread of fake news. The results show that the intervention reduced rumor acceptance and had a positive effect on the difference in acceptance between real and false stories. The study's findings suggest that preemptive interventions can be an effective way to combat misinformation.
