Abstract
These multisectoral, community-driven approaches boost resilience to shocks such as the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in tourism-dependent communities. By building capacity to reduce poverty and improve maternal, child, and reproductive health outcomes through partnerships that also lead to biodiversity outcomes, PHE approaches help countries achieve the Sustainable Development Goals in an integrated manner. A series of regional co-creation workshops conducted by Knowledge SUCCESS and PACE Project earlier this year identified several knowledge management challenges among PHE professionals. Participants shared difficulties in accessing PHE information and resources, including a general lack of PHE resources available online, no central website for information, resources, and tools for PHE, and not enough time to visit multiple websites to find necessary resources. Additionally, once resources are found, there is a perceived gap in quality and validity, and a general scarcity of evidence-based programmatic information with clear and strong data. The PHE community faces challenges in locating and using PHE resources due to common factors such as a lack of coordination and partnership among integrated programs and sectors to collect evidence and data, short PHE program life cycles, and no peer review process to authenticate information. To address these challenges, Knowledge SUCCESS and PACE Project have launched a new collection, 20 Essential Resources for Population, Health, and Environment. This collection is designed to help program planners, designers, and implementers in various sectors understand and explore elements of PHE programs. The 20 Essential Resources for Population, Health, and Environment collection includes resources on introductory concepts, program design, monitoring and evaluation, and program examples and contributions from various organizations. The collection is curated by Knowledge SUCCESS and PACE Project and is intended to provide a comprehensive overview of PHE programs. By providing a centralized repository of PHE resources, this collection aims to address the challenges faced by PHE professionals in accessing and using PHE information and resources. The Knowledge SUCCESS team is also developing a website that will provide a space for discussion, connection, and collaboration among PHE stakeholders. The website will include a robust repository for PHE resources with plans to build that collection with documented PHE best practices. This platform will enable PHE stakeholders to share knowledge, exchange information, and collaborate on PHE initiatives, ultimately strengthening the sharing and exchange of PHE knowledge across a global community.
