Abstract
The contract, implemented by Banyan Global and its consortium members, aims to provide on-demand technical assistance to USAID Missions and Bureaus across sectors. The Gender Integration Technical Assistance (GITA) task order, with Task Order Number AID-OAA-TO-17-00018, is designed to provide short-term technical assistance to USAID operating units to implement the Gender Equality and Female Empowerment policy. The task order is structured to be flexible and responsive, and may include activities such as gender analyses, desk studies, monitoring and learning plans, and technical assistance to improve the capacity of missions and operating units to incorporate gender- and inclusive development-related issues. During the quarter, Banyan Global developed and submitted five guidance documents for USAID that outline areas of inquiry and associated data sources in various sectors, including Economic Growth and Women's Empowerment, Gender-Based Violence, Education, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, and Disaster Risk and Reduction. The documents were submitted to Ms. Cabus on July 12, 2018, and are pending USAID feedback. Banyan Global also collaborated with USAID/South Sudan to provide a presentation to the USAID Gender-Based Violence Working Group on December 1, 2020, of the gender-based violence roadmap that Banyan Global completed for the mission at the beginning of 2020. Under the GITA task order, Banyan Global prepared two reports, including "Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment: The Journey to Self-Reliance" and "Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment: A Short History of USAID Policy and Programming." The reports were submitted to USAID on June 24, 2019, and June 12, 2019, respectively, and are awaiting final approval. Banyan Global also maintained regular communication with Ms. Cabus and Ms. Rames, the Chief of Party for GITA, throughout the quarter. The GITA task order is contracted by the Bureau for Development, Democracy and Innovation, Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment Hub, with a period of performance from September 7, 2017, to March 6, 2022. The contract has a ceiling price of $1,538,772.71 and a current obligated amount of $1,443,025.
