Abstract
Crisis Care is a community organization which is concerned with issues such homelessness, enforced removals, squatter settlements, women"s role and status, and the problems faced by ex-detainees and political prisoners. It runs a series of community-based advice centers and also runs training programs for advice center workers. The grant will support Crisis Care"s training program for advice center workers throughout Natal. Training will consist of an induction period in an advice office, twice-weekly training sessions, and weekend-long seminars. During the training period, trainees will be paid their regular salary by the advice office in which they work. The grant will also fund rental for 3 years of a facility in the Durban area where this training will be held. This facility will also house a crisis center to help persons who have just been released from detention or political imprisonment. The facility will be available for use by other community organizations in addition to Crisis Care.
