AID agreement no. 674-0302-G-SS-1017-00 with Project for the Establishment of Pre-Primary and Primary Schools to provide support for the educational support and training project

Grant is provided under the Educational Support and Training project (6740302) to the Project for the Establishment of Pre- Primary and Primary schools (PEPPS) to support PEPPS" new primary schools in the South African communities of Atteridgeville and Pietersburg.

Abstract

Grant funds will be used to partially finance eight black teachers" salaries and will also contribute towards the overhead costs of the PEPPS Central Directorate. PEPPS schools are built by township communities and controlled by local boards, with PEPPS Central Directorate providing technical and financial assistance. They are one of the few successful efforts to initiate primary schools for black children in the townships.
