Grant is provided under the Humanitarian Assistance Program for Nicaragua (594000002) to the Asociacion Nicaraguense Pro-Derechos Humanos (ANPDH) to train members of the Nicaraguan Resistance in international laws and conventions relating to the treatment of civilians, prisoners of war, and others.

Abstract
ANPDH will provide some 6,000 Resistance members with instruction in the four Geneva Conventions and their protocols, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Rules for Combatants on the Treatment of the Civilian Population, the Soldier"s Handbook, and various laws enforcing these principles. Courses will be offered to units on the Northern, Atlantic, and Southern fronts, and will be at a level commensurate with the educational background of the students. In addition, special, intensive courses will be held for ANPDH delegates to enable them to reinforce classroom learning by imparting human rights lessons at the task force level. The grant includes funding for constructing/remodeling six classroom at Resistance camps in Honduras and procuring instructional materials and equipment (including video equipment).
