AID cooperative agreement no. OTR-0500-A-00-0106-00 with AMREF (African Medical and Research Foundation) to provide support for the child survival projects in Kenya

AMREF will expand its child survival project, which currently operates in 2 slum villages in the capital of Nairobi, to cover 4 more villages. The target population is 40,000 women of childbearing age and children aged 0-5. Interventions will include diarrheal disease control and oral rehydration therapy, immunizations, nutritional improvement, contraceptive promotion, pre-natal and birthing care, malaria control, and increasing community-based health care coverage. The mainstay of AMREF"s CS strategy is the development of community initiatives via education of health workers and community members.
