AID grant agreement no. 674-0302-G-SS-3121-00 to Project Literacy Ikageng - WHPS Center to support the South Africa education support and training project

Activities under the grant will include: literacy training courses in eight African languages and English for approximately 64 teachers from grassroots, community-based organizations and for residents of Mamelodi Township and other regions of the country (reaching a total of 4,860 learners); four intensive teacher training courses, to be conducted primarily in other regions of the country; establishment of an adult education center and literacy laboratory in Mamelodi Township to provide in-service practicum training for literacy teachers; an aggressive affirmative action program; and distribution of voter education materials to literacy students.
