Abstract
education company, for a joint venture with SZAMALK, a Hungarian state-owned computer company in the process of being privatized, to provide Master of Business Administration (MBA) training to a cadre of 500 Hungarian managers and potential managers, thereby enabling them to manage private companies in a market economy. The program will be taught by the University of Phoenix, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Apollo Group, and managed by SZAMALK. The program, which will offer MBA training of a quality comparable to that offered by the University"s U.S. program, will last 2 years and will include diploma programs in four areas -- general management, executive management, decision analysis, and marketing in a global economy -- as well as a final research project. The course will be delivered via telecommunications by Hungarian-American instructors in studios in the United States to students assembled in classrooms in Hungary. Faculty-student interaction will be enhanced by giving all students membership in ALEX, the University"s computer conferencing system. Use of Hungarian-American businesspeople as faculty, along with exposure to American management education, will enable the students to establish linkages to the U.S. business community.
