Grant is provided under the Management Training and Economics Educations project (1800029) to Midwest Universities Consortium for International Activities (MUCIA), a consortium of eight Big Ten universities, to deliver training programs in aspects of a market economy for business managers in Czechoslovakia, Hungary, and Poland.
1991

Abstract
MUCIA, in conjunction with academic counterparts in the three countries, will develop 8 two-and-a-half day executive education modules in the areas of market economics, management accounting, marketing production, financial analysis, logistics, personnel management, manufacturing/operations management, and entrepreneurship strategies. Up to 40 persons from each country are expected to participate in each module. A key aspect of this effort will be the development of case study workshops for counterpart faculty. About 36 professors will be directly involved in this exercise, and 16 of the Eastern European faculty will also participate in 3-week executive education training programs at MUCIA schools. These professors will lead the case study workshops to be conducted in year 2, if subsequently approved. Six U.S. firms will support this effort, either by assisting in developing case studies based on their Eastern European activities, providing tuition support for visiting scholars, or reducing rates on services such as communications between the United States and Eastern Europe.
