AID grant no. 442-0112-G-00-4502-00 to World Relief Cambodia (WR) to better the lives of impoverished women and children, using an integrated small credit and savings community based facility scheme, associated with health education

WR will organize 90 Women"s Health and Credit Centers in Phnom Penh and Kompong Cham, providing loans to approximately 1,900 mothers and their estimated 3,600 children (women will be encouraged to save a minimum of 20% of their loan and will receive training in savings management). In addition, WR will provide mothers with child health education, enabling them to recognize the symptoms of diarrhea, acute respiratory infection, dengue, malaria, and malnutrition, and to apply practical health care and preventive health skills, such as how to prepare and administer Oral Rehydration Solution, manage water and mosquito nets to prevent dengue, and to understand the importance of breastfeeding and proper nutrition. Over the course of the project all children will be regularly weighed. Those under 1 year will be immunized. Lastly, WR will work to ensure that a Cambodian NGO will be able to continue the project.
