Grant is provided under the regional Intercountry Technology Transfer project to the Confederacion Empresarial del Uruguay (CEDU) to help a newly forming nonprofit organization -- Jovenes Empresarios de Uruguay -- establish a program in economic education and entrepreneurship similar to that operated by Junior Achievement, Inc., in the United States.
1990

Abstract
The program will comprise four subprograms: (1) Junior Achievement Company, in which high school students form mini- corporations with the help of volunteer advisors from local businesses; (2) Business Basics, in which 5th and 6th graders are introduced to economics and business administration; (3) Project Business, in which junior high school students receive encouragement and guidance from the local business community on business and economic issues; and (4) Applied Economics, in which senior secondary students learn the principles and theories of economics. It is expected that by 1993 there will be more than 1,000 students participating in the program and all funding will be obtained from the private sector.
