Abstract
training opportunities to Uruguayans who can promote the country"s economic development. The grant will finance activities in three areas. (1) To upgrade UCUDAL"s business management department and related departments, some 22 UCUDAL faculty and administrators will receive U.S. postgraduate training (averaging one semester, and ranging from 1 month to 2 years) in advanced business administration or a related field. (2) An estimated 48 person-months of U.S. professional, technical, and managerial training will be provided for non-UCUDAL individuals in areas key to Uruguay"s economic growth and diversification. (3) UCUDAL will strengthen its ties with a consortium of four U.S. universities (Loyola Marymount, Santa Clara, the University of San Francisco, and the College of St. Thomas). The consortium will help UCUDAL train its business management program administrators, develop teaching materials and curricula, and conduct courses, workshops, and seminars. By the project"s end, at least 12 postgraduate courses in business management or related areas will be taught at UCUDAL.
