Abstract
Private and Voluntary Assistance (USPVO) to improve the health of low-income indigent children in Mexico, particularly in rural areas. USPVO"s specific objectives under the grant are to: (1) refer indigents to Mexican health providers; (2) help U.S. PVO"s who want to work in Mexico to establish operations there; (3) obtain funding to modernize the medical clinic in the Tepito area of Mexico City; (4) expand operations to areas outside Mexico City; (5) obtain used medical equipment from U.S. sources for needy clinics and hospitals; (6) continue working with orphanages and other shelters for homeless children to insure adequate primary health care; and (7) afford selected groups interested in social service projects the opportunity to participate in a debt swap.
