Abstract
WVRD will renovate and equip five existing Ministry of Health (MOH) dispensaries to provide community-based health care and will redeploy and train attendants and volunteers of 20 WVRD- supported mobile clinics to serve at the new facilities. WVRD will also strengthen collaboration between the MOH and the community by training increased numbers of community health workers, traditional birth attendants, and MOH and NGO staff, as well as over 500 community, religious, and women"s group leaders. Community health care activities will include the promotion of immunization, improved nutrition, home preparation of oral rehydration solution, contraception, and improved sanitation, especially through the use of household pit latrines, rubbish pits, dish racks, and clothes lines.
