Abstract
The project"s main output will be a national plan designed to stimulate wildlife-based economic activity in communities surrounding protected areas. In addition to the national plan, the project will develop: four specific management plans for priority areas; five detailed field project designs; two field projects involving both the government and the private sector; and an efficient information management system involving some use of computers. Data for these activities will be collected from local research institutions and through some 240 days of field assessments. AWF assistance to the Wildlife Division will include TA, training, and equipment. The project is part of a larger conservation program that includes the AWF Community Conservation Project and the World Wide Fund for Nature Selous Rehabilitation Project.
