Grant is provided under the PVO Co-financing Project in Indonesia to Save the Children Federation (SCF) to implement a community based integrated responsive development program in the urban area of Duri in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Abstract
The project will have four components: (1) Water and Sanitation -- potential activities include providing health and sanitation education; upgrading the drainage system; providing filtration systems and/or community water collection points; organizing water co-ops; arranging regular garbage pickups; and promoting the construction of public baths, latrines, and garbage collection posts; (2) Education and Recreation for Children and Youth -- potential activities include providing materials and equipment to elementary schools, organizing women"s groups to provide day care, seeking space/facilities for playgrounds and team sports, cooperating with existing income generation programs for youth, and possibly assisting scout groups; (3) Family Economic Improvement -- potential activities include providing skills training, developing loan programs for small enterprises, strengthening cooperative systems, providing management assistance and training to small enterprises; and exploring possibilities for small-scale livestock programs; (4) Housing Improvement -- SCF will explore strategies (e.g., loans) for improving the living environment by increasing household access to sunlight, improving ventilation/windows; improving floors, and clean-up/beautification, e.g., by painting, or providing window boxes.
