Abstract
The Activity aims to promote healthy, non-violent relationships among intimate partners, adolescents, and their parents, and adolescents/youth in Timor-Leste. The Activity targets 5,000 people in 16 suco (villages) in three Administrative Posts in Covalima municipality. The Activity began on August 17, 2020, and the first three months focused on start-up activities, including confirmation of villages and sub-villages for implementation, and finalization of the annual implementation plan. Key initial trainings for youth leaders, youth club members, faith leaders, and community health workers were successfully completed. By the end of September 2021, the Activity had established 24 IMPACT youth clubs over three administrative posts and had trained 627 adolescents and youth with the IMPACT+ youth club model module one. In partnership with national psychosocial service provider, Psychosocial Rehabilitation Development in East Timor (PRADET), the Activity facilitated training on prevention of gender-based violence (GBV) for 112 faith and community leaders from three administrative posts, and for 31 health workers from Zumalai administrative post. Following long delays caused by COVID-19 restrictions, the Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Analysis and the baseline survey were conducted and approved. Their results and the development of the Gender and Inclusive Development Action Plan (GIDAP) informed how the Activity will be strengthened and delivered for greater impact. The Activity has made significant progress in the first year, with notable highlights including the development of the draft Startup Plan, socialization of the Activity and its purpose to local authorities, and the establishment of 24 youth clubs with 627 members. Additionally, 44 youth club leaders completed training on IMPACT+, and 112 faith and community leaders received training on prevention of GBV. The Activity has also made progress in establishing parents' clubs, training health workers, and conducting baseline surveys. The Activity has established partnerships with local organizations, including the Ministry of Social Solidarity and Inclusion (MSSI), to promote child protection awareness and prevent GBV. The Activity has also conducted training for caregivers and health workers on gender equality and prevention of GBV. The Activity's progress has been monitored through the Activity Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (AMEL) plan, which was developed and finalized in the first quarter of FY 2021. The Activity has made significant progress in promoting healthy relationships and preventing GBV in Timor-Leste. The establishment of 24 youth clubs and the training of 627 adolescents and youth with the IMPACT+ model demonstrate the Activity's commitment to empowering youth to protect themselves and others. The training of faith and community leaders on prevention of GBV and the establishment of parents' clubs also demonstrate the Activity's commitment to promoting healthy relationships and preventing GBV.
