Abstract
The initiative began in 2017 and concluded in 2022, with a focus on eight target cities in Honduras. The program involved various stakeholders, including the Ministry of Education, social network actors, and community organizations. To achieve its objectives, the SBVPA implemented several activities. The program focused on improving school safety through the creation of safe learning environments. This involved conducting a school safety study, analyzing data, and converting findings into programmatic interventions. The program also provided training for educators on peace education, which included developing e-learning modules and promoting positive changes in schools. The SBVPA also strengthened local networks to increase safe learning. This involved mobilizing school committees to support education during the pandemic and strengthening social asset networks to support education. The program also provided technical assistance to the Ministry of Education to develop an education strategy for the safe return to schools. In addition, the SBVPA aimed to lower risk factors and enhance protective factors for students who qualified for second prevention services. This involved consolidating the En Positivo package, which included a comprehensive program to prevent violence in schools. The program also provided support to implementation, including training for educators and parents. The SBVPA's objectives were to improve schools' ability to reduce violence, strengthen local networks, and lower risk factors and enhance protective factors for students.
