Abstract
The program aims to improve the quality and accessibility of health services in rural areas. The index is based on three key variables: the satisfactory operation of services, community participation in decision-making and service delivery, and the solidity of institutions involved in service provision. The program has been working with local authorities and communities to establish a system for monitoring and evaluating the quality of health services. This includes the establishment of technical teams to conduct consultations and assessments, as well as the participation of community members, health providers, and representatives of civil society organizations. In addition to the Index of Primary Health Services Decentralization, the USAID|NEXOS program has been implementing several infrastructure projects in Honduras. One of these projects is the "Amplification and Improvement of the Basic Education Center in Lempira" in the municipality of Gualcinse. The project includes the construction of two classrooms and the installation of a movable wall. Another project is the "System of Lighting in Sports Facilities" in the municipality of San Nicolás. The project includes the installation of lighting systems in a football field and a multi-purpose sports court. The program has also implemented a project in the municipality of Concepción de María, Choluteca, which includes the construction of a headquarters for the Association of Water Management Boards and the provision of equipment for an auditorium and administrative offices. The program has also implemented a project to prevent the contamination of water sources through the construction of 104 latrines in homes near water sources or productive areas. The program aims to improve the quality of life and well-being of the Honduran people by supporting local communities and authorities in the provision of public services.
