Abstract
This has led to dairy companies imposing purchase quotas on their milk producers, resulting in dairy families having production surpluses that affect their economy. The expanded capacity generated by the San Pedro de Los Milagros Milk Powder Plant has allowed Colanta to continue purchasing all milk production from its associated producers and increase the milk collection from non-associated producers. As a result, Colanta has reached an average of 2,442,522 liters of milk collected per day from small and medium-sized farmers. The COVID-19 pandemic has limited the availability of cargo transport services in the country, increasing the value of freight. In response, the Alliance has made logistics and transportation services available to farmers to protect the profitability of their productive activity. A total of 14 producer associations and independent producers have benefited from this measure, which facilitated the transportation of 201 tons of dried cassava. The private sector companies Ingredion S.A., Almidones de Sucre S.A.S., and Cooperativa Colanta have participated in strategic planning for the bitter cassava industry. This initiative aims to coordinate actions among the main buyers of bitter cassava in the country, favoring the establishment of this productive activity in Colombia. The goal is to strengthen the bitter cassava supply chain.
