Abstract
Colanta's Manager Sergio González Villa presented accumulated results to the 5,518 associates attending the company's first virtual Ordinary General Assembly. This digital alternative allowed the largest number of associates to attend in the history of Colanta. The activity Bitter Cassava for a Sweet Milk has improved 876 hectares with cassava sowing and pasture renewal in 54 municipalities, delivering 20,700 technical assistances to small cassava and milk producers. Bitter cassava cultivation and processing have progressed despite heavy rains. Producer associations and the Alliance technical team are maintaining, harvesting, and drying industrial cassava crops. The Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology, and Environmental Studies (IDEAM) issued alerts due to adverse weather conditions, but new hectares of bitter cassava were established in Bajo Cauca, and producers sold 11 tons to Colanta in August. Agricultural machinery, originally intended for land preparation, has been used for logistical support to transport seed and dried cassava due to road deterioration. The Pasture Renewal service, established by the Alliance, helps dairy producers obtain more grass for their livestock without increasing plot size. A total of 125 dairy families have benefited from the improvement of 458 hectares located in seven municipalities in the department of Antioquia. The Alliance has already reached its annual goal in hectares improvement, with the entry into operation of a new tractor that joined the fleet of three already operating within the service. The goal is to expand the coverage of the service. The Bitter Cassava for a Sweet Milk activity has achieved significant results.
