Abstract
The conferences, attended by 104 dairy producers, were led by professionals from the Colanta Environmental Management Department. These experts developed and presented the concept and characteristics of a sustainable dairy farm during the sessions. The conferences aimed to raise awareness about the importance of sustainable practices in dairy farming. The Colanta Educa platform provided a unique opportunity for dairy producers to learn from industry experts and share knowledge with their peers. The virtual format allowed for a wider reach and accessibility, enabling more producers to participate and benefit from the information shared. In a separate initiative, the Alliance participated in the United Nations' International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on November 25. The Alliance created an audiovisual message featuring three women who combine their professional knowledge with agricultural production. These women shared their future dreams, highlighting the importance of supporting and empowering women in agriculture. The message also served as a tribute to the women whose dreams were cut short by violence in 2020. Kenis and Raúl, a married couple from the Sampues municipality in the Sucre department, are an example of successful independent producers. In 2019, they joined the Bitter Cassava for a Sweet Milk activity, cultivating industrial cassava as independent producers. With the help of a loan, they established six hectares of cassava crops and achieved a production of over 35 tons of dried cassava, successfully closing their first production cycle. Their success story is one of 33 households of independent producers who have joined the Alliance's agricultural activity. The Alliance's efforts to promote sustainability and support independent producers have yielded positive results. The successful closure of the first production cycle by Kenis and Raúl, as well as the other 33 households, demonstrates the potential for growth and development in the agricultural sector. The Alliance's initiatives aim to create a more sustainable and equitable food system, benefiting both producers and consumers.
