The Cabildo Indígena Ismuina is not legally constituted as a reserve, but it has a total area of 37 hectares, all of which are cultivated with various native and agro-pastoral species. The community has a hierarchical government, governed by the internal law, created and approved by the general assembly of the community's affiliates. The community has a total of 31 families, with 17 participating in the NZD project, consisting of 71 people, of which 36 are men and 35 are women. The other families do not have a constant presence in the community. The community's education system is not self-sufficient, with students attending the Institución Educativa Campo Elías Marulanda in the municipality of Solano, located 1.5 kilometers from the community. The community has plans to build an ethno-educational school with its own curriculum, tailored to the community's needs and cultural characteristics, prioritizing the formation of children with a sense of belonging to avoid the loss of culture, mother tongue, and customs.
