Abstract
The country's greenhouse gas emissions are a major contributor to the problem, with carbon dioxide levels increasing annually due to the burning of fossil fuels and other human activities. The concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere has risen steadily, leading to a corresponding increase in global temperatures. The Programa para el Desarrollo Bajo en Emisiones de México (MLED) aims to address this issue by promoting sustainable development and reducing Mexico's greenhouse gas emissions. The program's overall objective is to create favorable conditions for Mexico to achieve sustainable development, while also reducing its emissions of greenhouse gases. This will be achieved through a range of strategies, including the implementation of clean energy projects, coordination of global climate change programs, and measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) systems. DNV GL, a global company with 150 years of experience, has been contracted to provide advisory services to the MLED program. The company's vision is to have a global impact for a secure and sustainable future. DNV GL offers a range of services, including technical consulting, expert advice, and operational services, as well as testing, inspection, verification, and certification. The MLED program has identified several key areas for focus, including the development of low-carbon technologies, the promotion of sustainable land use practices, and the implementation of MRV systems. The program's MRV system will be used to track and verify Mexico's greenhouse gas emissions, as well as to monitor the effectiveness of the program's interventions. A key component of the MLED program is the Taller de MRV, which aims to provide training and capacity-building for Mexican stakeholders on the principles and applications of MRV systems. The training program will cover a range of topics, including the basics of MRV, the importance and application of MRV in programs and actions, and the use of MRV systems in the context of climate change mitigation and adaptation. The MLED program is expected to have a significant impact on Mexico's greenhouse gas emissions, as well as on the country's overall development trajectory. By promoting sustainable development and reducing emissions, the program will help to create a more secure and sustainable future for Mexico and its citizens.
