Abstract
The reserve is situated at an elevation of 1330 meters above sea level, with a total area of 19 hectares and 5,313 square meters. The reserve is owned by the community, represented by the organization ACUASALADO, with 210 users who rely on the reserve for water resources. The reserve is characterized by a unique ecosistema, known as the "Bosque Medio Seco en Montaña Fluvio-Gravitacional" (BOMSEMH), which is a type of tropical montane forest. The reserve is located in the premontano-montano thermal belt, with a temperature range of 16°C to 23°C and an annual precipitation of 1000 to 1800 mm. The reserve is home to a variety of plant species, including epiphytes, hepatics, lichens, trepadoras, parasites, and hemiparasites. The reserve is also home to a diverse range of fauna, including birds, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians. The reserve's unique ecosistema and biodiversity make it an important area for conservation and research. The reserve is also an important source of water for the surrounding communities, with the community relying on the reserve for their water needs. The reserve is being proposed for registration as a Reserva Natural de la Sociedad Civil (RNSC) under the Colombian government's conservation program. The registration process involves the preparation of a concept technical report, which outlines the reserve's characteristics, objectives, and management plan. The report also includes a description of the reserve's ecosistema, flora, and fauna, as well as a proposal for the reserve's zoning and management. The reserve's zoning plan proposes three zones: a conservation zone, an agrosystem zone, and a zone of intensive use. The conservation zone will be dedicated to the protection of the reserve's unique ecosistema and biodiversity, while the agrosystem zone will be used for sustainable agriculture and forestry practices. The zone of intensive use will be used for tourism and recreation activities. The reserve's management plan proposes the establishment of a management committee, which will be responsible for the reserve's day-to-day management. The committee will be composed of representatives from the community, the organization ACUASALADO, and other stakeholders. The management plan also proposes the establishment of a monitoring system to track the reserve's biodiversity and ecosystem health. The reserve's registration as a RNSC will provide important benefits for the community and the environment. The reserve will be protected from deforestation and habitat destruction, and the community will have a secure source of water and income from sustainable tourism and agriculture activities. The reserve will also provide important opportunities for research and education, and will contribute to the conservation of Colombia's unique biodiversity.
