The reserve is bounded by the carretera Simón Bolívar to the east, the predio del señor Miguel Vásquez to the west, the predio de los herederos del señor Jaime Bonilla to the north, and the herederos de las señora Carmelina Villota and the predio de la señora Tulia Collazos to the south. The reserve is home to a variety of plant species, including otobo, palmas, cucharos, mamey, jigua, nogal cafetero, mortiño, higuerón, carbonero, and arrayán. The reserve is also home to a variety of animal species, including those that inhabit the Bosque Medio Seco en Montaña Fluviogravitacional ecosystem.
