Abstract
The organization has a long history of promoting and registering protected areas, including the establishment of 26 protected areas, with 11 in the process of registration and 10 with active use and management plans. The La Esperanza property, located in the municipality of Dagua, has a rich history dating back to the 1940s when it was acquired by Julio Alberto Larraniaga Pantoja, a worker from Nariño. The property has been used for agricultural and livestock purposes, and its owners have been involved in various community development projects, including the construction of a school and a chapel. The La Esperanza Civil Society Natural Reserve is located in the Corregimiento of El Limonar, Municipality of Dagua, and has a total area of 20 hectares and 8,750 square meters. The reserve is situated at an altitude of 1,330 meters above sea level and is characterized by a dry forest ecosystem. The reserve is bounded by several properties, including those of Aura Cecilia Campo, Esperanza Londoño, and Alfonso Sanclemente. The reserve's ecosystem is home to a variety of flora and fauna, including trees, shrubs, and wild animals. The reserve's owners have implemented sustainable agriculture practices, including composting and crop rotation, and have also established a system for managing the reserve's natural resources. The reserve's zonation plan proposes three areas: a conservation zone, an agrosystem zone, and a zone for intensive use and infrastructure.
