Abstract
The area encloses seven distinct ecosystems: banco, bajo, estero, and mata de monte, bosque de vega, playas, and intervened zones. A total of 432 plant species were found, distributed across 113 genera and 96 families, with the families Poaceae, Fabaceae, and Rubiaceae being the most prominent. The most diverse ecosystem was the banco, followed by the bosque de vega and the mata de monte. A total of 100 bird species were identified, with 52 species found in the two types of forest (bosque de vega and mata de monte) and the remainder in open areas (banco, bajo, estero, and river). Fifty fish species were identified, with 24 species found in the Río Cravo Sur, 14 in the canal next to the house, 6 in the esteros, and 6 in the borrow pits next to the exposed road. The study area presents a good state of conservation, both at the level of savanna ecosystems and the present forests. According to preliminary inventories, the area has a considerable diversity, considering its surface area, indicating that it is an important site for the conservation of flora and fauna in the region and deserves to be registered as a Reserva Natural de la Sociedad Civil (RNSC).
