Abstract
The program is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and is implemented by Tetra Tech ARD. CELI-Central's focus has been on empowering smallholder producer associations and expanding private sector investment in rural communities. The program has invested $2.2 million in three public-private partnership activities, involving 35 organizations in the rubber-, cacao-, and coffee-producing sectors. These activities are designed to create economic opportunities for community stakeholders within the context of licit markets and the rule of law. One of the key achievements of CELI-Central this quarter is the completion of the first stage of its knowledge management strategy. Third-party consultants assessed, documented, and shared good practices, lessons learned, and challenges faced in the implementation of 17 activities from all components. This process is essential to building social capital and strengthening the relationship between civil society and governmental institutions in a sustainable and replicable manner. CELI-Central has also reported significant progress in its rural and economic development programs. A total of 1,935 people have benefited from strategic rural and economic development programs with a territorial approach this quarter, and 4,522 from improved infrastructure services. Additionally, the program has supported 136 land formalization claims, which is a significant step towards promoting land ownership and security for rural communities. The program's focus on empowering smallholder producer associations and promoting private sector investment is expected to have a positive impact on the economic development of rural communities in Colombia's Central Region. By creating economic opportunities and promoting sustainable development, CELI-Central aims to improve the livelihoods of rural communities and contribute to the overall development of the region. CELI-Central's progress in implementing its knowledge management strategy is also noteworthy. The program's ability to document and share good practices, lessons learned, and challenges faced will help to build social capital and strengthen the relationship between civil society and governmental institutions. This will ultimately contribute to the sustainability and replicability of the program's activities and outcomes. In terms of infrastructure development, CELI-Central has made significant progress in improving access to infrastructure services for rural communities. A total of 4,522 people have benefited from improved infrastructure services this quarter, which is a significant step towards promoting economic development and improving the quality of life for rural communities. Overall, CELI-Central's progress this quarter is a testament to the program's commitment to promoting rural development and economic growth in Colombia's Central Region. The program's focus on empowering smallholder producer associations, promoting private sector investment, and improving infrastructure development is expected to have a positive impact on the economic development of rural communities and contribute to the overall development of the region.
