Abstract
The program aims to enhance civil society's infrastructure and individual organizational capacity, with the goal of supporting civil society organizations (CSOs) and coalitions that engage in advocacy initiatives. CSSP encourages greater engagement between CSOs and government institutions to increase CSOs' contributions in public policy. To achieve its objectives, CSSP provides technical assistance in advocacy, legal framework development, government-CSO dialogue, and tailored capacity-building to both local government and CSOs in target regions. The program delivers capacity development activities to CSOs, including specific technical assistance to meet their advocacy and public policy engagement goals. CSSP also ensures achievement of the activity's purpose, objectives, and results by directing all program components, including grants management and organizational capacity process. CSSP's organizational development approach focuses on strengthening the capacity of five core Intermediate Service Organizations (ISOs) to provide high-quality capacity development and advocacy services to CSO clients in a sustainable way. Through customized trainings, technical assistance, and mentoring, CSSP transfers skills in performance-based management, demand-driven services, advocacy, organizational development, and financial sustainability to ISOs. In turn, ISOs will build the capacity of selected CSOs engaged in advocacy efforts in Morocco, promoting local ownership and sustainability of organizational and technical capacity building to advance targeted policy reform efforts. CSSP's holistic approach to assisting CSOs achieve advocacy results focuses on building the capacity of organizations to plan and execute advocacy campaigns, providing them resources through grants, and making explicit the expectation that CSOs must purposefully engage in advocacy efforts. The program's strategy is to support CSOs in developing their capacity to engage in effective advocacy, ultimately contributing to the development of a more robust and inclusive civil society in Morocco. During the reporting period, CSSP made significant progress in strengthening the capacity of CSOs and ISOs. The program supported the development of organizational capacity among CSOs, including the establishment of a CSO network and the provision of technical assistance to CSOs in advocacy and public policy engagement. CSSP also facilitated the development of a regional strategy for CSO engagement in public policy, which aims to increase CSOs' contributions in public policy. CSSP's efforts have been recognized by the government of Morocco, which has acknowledged the program's contributions to the development of a more robust and inclusive civil society. The program's achievements have also been recognized by international partners, who have praised CSSP's innovative approach to strengthening CSOs' capacity and promoting their engagement in public policy. In the next quarter, CSSP plans to continue its efforts to strengthen the capacity of CSOs and ISOs. The program will focus on supporting the development of organizational capacity among CSOs, including the establishment of a CSO network and the provision of technical assistance to CSOs in advocacy and public policy engagement. CSSP will also facilitate the development of a regional strategy for CSO engagement in public policy, which aims to increase CSOs' contributions in public policy. Overall, CSSP's efforts have made significant contributions to the development of a more robust and inclusive civil society in Morocco. The program's innovative approach to strengthening CSOs' capacity and promoting their engagement in public policy has been recognized by the government of Morocco and international partners.
