Abstract
The project focused on the development, access, and use of reading support materials. As part of this model, the strategy of Municipios amigables a la lectura was also worked on, involving the dynamic participation and involvement of parents, mothers, and the community to support the education of pre-primary and primary school students. The Colección Cuentos en familia is a result of the efforts made in the 12 municipalities of intervention of the project. It consists of 24 short stories in Spanish and 12 long stories in Spanish, Mam, and K'iche'. The collection is the outcome of workshops held with parents to promote the approach of children to reading materials that rescue the oral tradition of communities.
