Abstract
These organizations aim to promote effective youth development policies at the federal level in Mexico. The group's members are experts in various fields related to youth, including gender, education, health, labor, and youth participation. The group's official branding includes the use of "Juventudes" (plural) instead of "Juventud" (singular), reflecting the diversity of the youth population in Mexico. The official Twitter hashtag for Juventudes 2030 is #Juventudes2030, and the group has also established an official logo. Juventudes 2030 is comprised of 22 member organizations, including international organizations, national NGOs, and local NGOs. The group has defined six areas of priority, including youth participation, school retention/dropout, access to labor markets and employment, sexual and reproductive health, youth cultural expressions, and transversal topics. To address these areas, the group has created six commissions, each coordinated by a chosen member who reports back to the group during plenary sessions. The group has developed several documents, including the Terms of Reference of Juventudes 2030, the Communications Strategy, and the Mexican Youth Development Guidelines. The Youth Development Guidelines, which were the focus of the Public Presentation Event, include a brief scenario of the current youth situation for the specific priority areas, as well as a set of indicators and goals achievement mechanisms. The Public Presentation Event, held on April 11th, 2013, was hosted by Juventudes 2030 to introduce itself and its agenda to the Federal Government, media, and the general public. The event took place in the Diego Rivera I conference room in the Hotel Marriott Reforma in downtown Mexico City. Attendees were able to mingle and learn about Juventudes 2030's youth guidelines through five life-size infographics. The event commenced with a presentation by the group's members, who introduced themselves and their work plan. The presentation covered the five themes of the Youth Development Guidelines, including youth participation, school retention/dropout, access to labor markets and employment, sexual and reproductive health, and youth cultural expressions. The presentation also included a discussion of the indicators and goals achievement mechanisms outlined in the guidelines. The event concluded with a question-and-answer session, during which attendees were able to ask questions and engage with the group's members. The event was well-received by attendees, who praised the group's efforts to promote effective youth development policies in Mexico. The event marked an important milestone for Juventudes 2030, as it introduced the group and its agenda to a wider audience and generated interest in the group's work. The event also highlighted the importance of collaboration and partnership in promoting youth development in Mexico. The Mexican Youth Development Guidelines, which were the focus of the Public Presentation Event, provide a framework for promoting effective youth development policies in Mexico. The guidelines include a brief scenario of the current youth situation for the specific priority areas, as well as a set of indicators and goals achievement mechanisms. The guidelines are designed to be used by policymakers, practitioners, and other stakeholders to promote youth development in Mexico. The guidelines cover five themes, including youth participation, school retention/dropout, access to labor markets and employment, sexual and reproductive health, and youth cultural expressions. Each theme is accompanied by a set of indicators and goals achievement mechanisms, which are designed to be used to monitor progress and evaluate the effectiveness of youth development initiatives. The guidelines are based on a thorough analysis of the current youth situation in Mexico, including the challenges and opportunities facing young people. The guidelines also draw on international best practices and research in the field of youth development. Overall, the Mexican Youth Development Guidelines provide a valuable resource for policymakers, practitioners, and other stakeholders who are working to promote effective youth development policies in Mexico. The guidelines offer a framework for promoting youth development and provide a set of indicators and goals achievement mechanisms that can be used to monitor progress and evaluate the effectiveness of youth development initiatives.
