Abstract
Family relations workshops are conducted in various communities, including La Independencia and La Alianza, with the goal of improving family dynamics and supporting youth development. These workshops are often held in homes or community centers, and are attended by family members and youth participants. Technical training programs are also a key component of the Safe Spaces initiative. In partnership with institutions such as Tec de Monterrey and Intel, JcR provides training in various fields, including information and communication technologies (ICTs), hospitality, and construction. These programs are designed to equip young people with the skills they need to secure employment and improve their socio-economic status. In addition to technical training, JcR also offers courses in basic electricity and entrepreneurship. The initiative also places a strong emphasis on education and school retention. In partnership with the National Institute for Adult Education (INEA), JcR administers exams to youth from Nuevo Almaguer, Monterrey, Nuevo León, to complete their elementary and middle school education. Middle school teachers from Camino Verde, Tijuana, Baja California, also join JcR's work to prevent drop-out and improve school environments. Youth participants from various communities, including Granjas Familiares and Mariano Matamoros, work on leadership projects to improve their schools. Implementation of the Safe Spaces initiative is ongoing, with new programs and partnerships being established regularly. For example, JcR signs agreements with institutions such as Nacional Monte de Piedad and Tec de Monterrey to improve employment opportunities for at-risk youth. The initiative also celebrates the achievements of its participants, such as the "Day of Scholars" event held for youth participants in the employment and entrepreneurship course at the Tec de Monterrey. Overall, the Safe Spaces initiative is a comprehensive program that addresses the needs of young people in Monterrey, Nuevo León, and Tijuana, Baja California. By providing technical training, education, and support for family relations and school retention, JcR aims to equip young people with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in life.
