Abstract
RAMP is expected to contribute to USAID's Development Objective 4: Human Potential Accelerated, specifically Intermediate Result IR4.2: Learning outcomes for all school-aged children improved. The initiative's goals are to have all students in grade 2 (G2) and grade 3 (G3) in public schools reading with comprehension and doing mathematics with understanding, and to institutionalize new teaching and learning methodologies, policies, and practices at the school, community, and government levels. RAMP will work with the Ministry of Education (MoE) to achieve these goals. The initiative's expected results include improving teachers' ability to use and actual use of coherent early grade reading and mathematics learning materials and classroom assessment tools, ensuring that teachers provide effective and differentiated reading and mathematics instruction consistent with the RAMP model to all children, strengthening communities' participation in providing reading and mathematics education for all children and holding schools accountable for results, and enhancing MoE policies, standards, curriculum materials, education management information system (EMIS), and evaluation, monitoring, and accountability systems to improve early grade results and ensure sustainability. The RAMP initiative is led by Research Triangle Institute (RTI International) as the prime implementing partner, with a contract/ agreement number and subcontractors/sub-awardees. The geographic coverage of the initiative is national, covering all governorates and districts in Jordan. RAMP's expected duration is from January 1, 2015, to December 31, 2022. RAMP's progress narrative for the quarter October 1 to December 31, 2021, indicates that the initiative made significant progress in implementing its activities. The number of field directors (FDs) meeting the benchmarks for various indicators increased, with 100% of FDs meeting the benchmarks for indicators related to teacher training and 90% meeting the benchmarks for indicators related to community mobilization. The initiative also made progress in implementing its continuous professional development (CPD) program, with 85% of teachers participating in the program and 90% of teachers reporting an improvement in their teaching practices. Additionally, RAMP made progress in implementing its reading and mathematics assessments, with 95% of schools participating in the assessments and 90% of schools reporting an improvement in their students' reading and mathematics skills. RAMP's collaboration and knowledge sharing with partner entities in the host government and other donor agencies also made significant progress, with the initiative participating in several meetings and workshops with partner entities and sharing its knowledge and expertise with them. The initiative also made progress in its branding, communications, and dissemination activities, with the launch of a new website and social media campaign to promote the initiative's activities and results.
