Abstract
The project aimed to create a specialized supermarket that would sell exclusively African products, particularly agro-food products. The concept of 100% AFRIQUE was born out of a desire to create a break with traditional markets where products were exposed in poor sanitary conditions. In conventional high-end supermarkets, African products were poorly displayed and under-achandled. The initiative aimed to create a Supermarché 100% AFRIQUE where products would be valued for their uniqueness and communicated for their benefits, such as natural, nutritional, therapeutic, medicinal, and bio. The project was implemented over a period of one year, leveraging the existing activities of FWS as a strategic option for commercializing its extensive range of products under the "KUMBA" brand. The project's innovative aspect lay in the professionalization of the commercialization of transformed products under the "KUMBA" brand. The creation of the Supermarché 100% AFRIQUE required significant investments, including office equipment, transportation vehicles, and shelving. The project also involved the mobilization of a working capital fund to cover operational costs. The Supermarché 100% AFRIQUE was designed to be a commercial entity that would position itself in the agro-food sector as a leader in the sale of transformed cereal products. The project's marketing strategy focused on promoting the unique qualities of African products, such as their natural and nutritional benefits. The project's socio-economic impact was significant, with the potential to contribute to the development of the agro-food sector and the value chains of millet-sorghum and maize at the national and regional levels. The Supermarché 100% AFRIQUE aimed to increase the commercialization of transformed cereal products, particularly in the sub-regional market. The project's implementation was facilitated by the collaboration of various stakeholders, including ONGs, cooperation agencies, and government structures in Senegal. The initiative was part of a broader movement to promote the valorization of local products, which had gained momentum in the 1990s. The Supermarché 100% AFRIQUE project was a pioneering initiative that aimed to create a new market for African products, particularly agro-food products. The project's innovative approach to commercialization and marketing had the potential to contribute to the development of the agro-food sector and the value chains of millet-sorghum and maize in Senegal and beyond. The project's success was dependent on various factors, including the effective implementation of the marketing strategy, the quality of the products offered, and the ability to create a loyal customer base.
