Abstract
(JSI). The project's multi-sectoral approach brings together global and local expertise in nutrition to design, implement, and evaluate programs that address the root causes of malnutrition. The project's goal is to sustain positive outcomes by building local capacity, supporting behavior change, and strengthening the enabling environment to improve health, build resilience, increase economic productivity, and promote development. The project's geographic scope includes Honduras, with a focus on the departments of Copán, Ocotepeque, and Santa Bárbara. The project aims to strengthen national and regional policies, systems, and structures for a multi-sectoral approach to improving nutrition. This includes assessing national policies, systems, and coordination structures, and co-developing plans to strengthen them. The project also aims to strengthen local government systems and structures to increase the delivery of quality nutrition services and the year-round availability and affordability of safe, nutritious foods. The project's approach is based on several key principles and considerations, including a systems approach, a focus on building local capacity, and a commitment to sustainability. The project management structure includes a project director, a deputy project director, and a team of technical advisors and support staff. The project's fiscal year 2024 activities are outlined in the work plan, which includes several key interventions and activities. One of the key interventions is the strengthening of national and regional policies, systems, and structures for a multi-sectoral approach to improving nutrition. This includes assessing national policies, systems, and coordination structures, and co-developing plans to strengthen them. The project also aims to strengthen local government systems and structures to increase the delivery of quality nutrition services and the year-round availability and affordability of safe, nutritious foods. Another key intervention is the nurturing of care and healthy dietary practices among women and young children. This includes increasing the quality and coverage of nutrition services, making safe, affordable, and nutritious food available in local communities, and expanding multi-sectoral nutrition social behavior change (SBC) approaches. The project aims to equip health workers and school teachers with resources to improve the quality and coverage of nutrition services, and to support the development and implementation of food systems strengthening plans to increase the year-round availability and affordability of safe, nutritious foods. The project also includes several cross-cutting activities, including developing an environmental monitoring and mitigation plan, finalizing and implementing a communication strategy, and conducting and socializing a gender and social inclusion analysis. These activities are designed to support the project's overall goals and objectives, and to ensure that the project is implemented in a sustainable and effective manner. The project's work plan outlines several key activities and interventions for fiscal year 2024, including the strengthening of national and regional policies, systems, and structures for a multi-sectoral approach to improving nutrition, the nurturing of care and healthy dietary practices among women and young children, and the implementation of several cross-cutting activities. The project's goal is to sustain positive outcomes by building local capacity, supporting behavior change, and strengthening the enabling environment to improve health, build resilience, increase economic productivity, and promote development.
