Abstract
The program aims to promote peace and inclusion in Colombia by addressing the needs of ethnic communities affected by conflict. The IPA program operates in eight regions in Colombia, including La Guajira, Chocó, Bolivar, Bogotá and Soacha, Nariño, Cauca, and Valle del Cauca. The program focuses on four result areas: enhancing the capacity of the Government of Colombia (GOC) to respond to the needs of ethnic communities, reducing vulnerability to income poverty through economic opportunities, increasing awareness and respect for ethnic cultures, and providing humanitarian assistance to ethnic communities. In the first quarter of 2020, the IPA program achieved several key achievements. In La Guajira, the program supported the implementation of targeted initiatives to address the needs of Afro-Colombian communities. In Chocó, the program provided vocational training and job placement opportunities to urban Afro-Colombian and indigenous individuals. In Bogotá and Soacha, the program promoted cultural heritage initiatives and awareness of indigenous and Afro-Colombian cultures.
