Abstract
The program focuses on two strategic objectives: Livelihoods and Emergency Response. The program's overall goal is to enhance the resilience and well-being of the population, particularly women and girls, in the face of ongoing conflict and economic challenges. The program's Livelihoods component aims to improve access to resources, markets, and economic opportunities for vulnerable populations, including women-headed households and persons with disabilities. The program also seeks to promote gender equality and address the specific needs and challenges faced by women and girls in Gaza. The Emergency Response component of the program focuses on enhancing the capacity of local organizations and communities to respond to emergencies and crises. The component aims to improve access to emergency services, including food, shelter, and healthcare, and to promote the participation of women and girls in emergency response efforts. The program's research methodology involved a gender analysis, which examined the roles, responsibilities, and time use of women and men in Gaza, as well as their access to resources, power relations, and decision-making processes. The analysis also explored the specific needs and challenges faced by persons with disabilities. The study found that women and girls in Gaza face significant challenges in accessing resources, markets, and economic opportunities, and that they are disproportionately affected by the ongoing conflict and economic crisis. The study also found that persons with disabilities face significant barriers to accessing education, employment, and healthcare. The program's recommended strategies and entry points include promoting gender equality and addressing the specific needs and challenges faced by women and girls in Gaza, improving access to resources, markets, and economic opportunities for vulnerable populations, and enhancing the capacity of local organizations and communities to respond to emergencies and crises. The program's implementation will be carried out in partnership with local organizations and communities, and will involve a range of activities, including training programs, infrastructure development, market linkage facilitation, and emergency response activities. The program will also establish a monitoring and evaluation system to track progress and ensure accountability. The program's geographic focus is on the Gaza Strip, and its timeframes are from 2016 to 2020. The program's budget is funded by USAID, and its implementation will be carried out in partnership with local organizations and communities. Overall, the Envision Gaza 2020 program aims to improve the livelihoods and emergency response capacities of the people of Gaza, particularly women and girls, and to promote gender equality and address the specific needs and challenges faced by vulnerable populations.
