Abstract
The program aimed to promote women's economic empowerment and social inclusion through vocational training and entrepreneurship development. The initiative was funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by IREX, a non-profit organization specializing in international education and development. The program focused on three main objectives: increasing women's participation in the workforce, enhancing their economic independence, and promoting social inclusion. To achieve these goals, the program provided vocational training in various sectors, including hospitality, healthcare, and information technology. Additionally, entrepreneurship development training was offered to women who wanted to start their own businesses. The program also established a network of women's business centers to provide ongoing support and mentorship to participants. The program's geographic focus was on the northern and central regions of Jordan, where women's participation in the workforce was lowest. The program targeted women from disadvantaged backgrounds, including those with limited education and income. The program's methodology involved a combination of training, mentorship, and networking opportunities to help women develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed in the workforce. The program's key findings and conclusions highlighted the importance of vocational training and entrepreneurship development in promoting women's economic empowerment. The program's evaluation revealed that women who participated in the program experienced significant increases in their income and employment rates. The program also reported a high level of job placement among participants, with many women securing employment in their chosen fields. The program's implementation details included the establishment of a network of women's business centers, which provided ongoing support and mentorship to participants. The program also established partnerships with local businesses and organizations to provide job placement opportunities for participants. The program's timeframes were from 2014 to 2018, with a midterm evaluation conducted in 2016 and a final evaluation conducted in 2018. The program's recommendations highlighted the need for continued support and investment in vocational training and entrepreneurship development programs for women in Jordan.
