Abstract
To achieve this, a new way of working is required, involving significant energy and time investment from the three Executive Sponsors, the GRP Executive Team, and KPMG, the Implementing Partner. During the period from 1 September 2015 to 31 August 2016, the GRP made considerable progress. The Global Resilience Challenge (R1 Challenge) reached more than 1.5 million beneficiaries, with at least one Challenge grantee ready for scale-up. The Partnership Council is functioning as a strategic, cohesive body, actively supporting the GRP's new way of working through Partnership Council Joint Delivery Teams. High-level communications events have positioned the GRP within the global resilience architecture. The GRP's governance structure has evolved to an Executive Committee (ExCo) that has delegated more authority to the GRP Executive Team. Key appointments include the recruitment of the Executive Director, Head of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E), and the Communications Director. Two Partnership Council meetings have been held, bringing globally influential members into the GRP. The Department of International Development (DFID) secondee has been identified as Policy and Influencing Lead. The GRP Strategy, Blueprints, and Workplan have been endorsed by the ExCo, with strategy supported by the Partnership Council. A detailed Roadmap has been developed with the support of the Rockefeller Foundation (RF). Various contributions on a new entity structure and analysis are underway. The Challenge has seen assessments carried out and ten Round One (R1) Challenge grantees contracted, including Wild Card winners. One of the grantees has been identified for a Scale-up Plan, and a successful grantee induction workshop was held in Kenya in June 2016. Programmatic Features have included the development of three innovative finance concept notes by the Delivery Team, which will be further developed. An Incubation Hub concept note and MetaMeta (Challenge grantee) Scale-up Plan have been developed and approved for further development. The Water Window Challenge has been launched, with Stage One finalists selected and mentoring undertaken.
