Abstract
Washington Foundation (BTWF) to help Cameroon"s University Center for Business Administration (UCBA) at Douala and the Center for Support to Small and Medium Enterprises (CAPME) to develop a research and training division in the area of small and medium-sized enterprises (SME"s). Planned outputs are: (1) an action research program that identifies the job-creation opportunities and potential of SME"s and generates suitable methodologies and strategies for exploiting these opportunities; (2) a policy research program that identifies and analyzes legal, structural, and environmental constraints on SME development and provides recommendations to alleviate them; (3) a management consulting service to upgrade CAPME"s professional staff; (4) a training program tailored to the needs of CAPME trainers; (5) upgraded UCBA academic programs in the fields of SME"s, rural development, and business management; and (6) a public/private sector advisory committee to assist in the development and operation of the SME division.
